Ten common errors which can happen while handling a check book by people with mild dementia


Hope you are handling your financial documents and checking the check book. One of the primary signs of dementia is having trouble with financial management and it may be a reason to cause more trouble than most aspects of everyday life. Note, you don’t have to quit your job or no need to take a big decision about it. But start the simple safeguard of double-checking. Also make a check box of step by step process of handling a check book and follow the process, mark it in the check box once completed the each step. This activity can reduce the errors. Below is the few of common check book errors.

  1. Calculation errors
  2. Transposed Numbers
  3. Forgetting to make record of written checks
  4. Forgetting to remove written checks from the check book
  5. Forgetting to send checks that are put in bill envelops
  6. Forgetting to fill all fields in a check
  7. Writing a completely deferent date or year (Mostly writing in last year or late into this year)
  8. Writing amount more than available funds in an account
  9. Forgetting to record deposits in check book
  10. Forgetting to deposit checks in checking account
