What is a Senior Living Community?

Senior Community

A senior living community is a residential complex which particularly designed for older adults to live their retirement life. Senior living community is also called as retirement community. More than 60% of senior community residents are fully retired and some residents are partially retired. There is no single definition of a senior community. There are many types of senior communities which provide various senior care options. Older adults can choose a retirement community based on their requirements. Senior Care Options includes Assisted Living, Independent Living, In-home senior care, and memory care for Alzheimer’s and dementia people.

Assisted Living

Assisted living is a housing facility for senior people with disabilities and also for who need some personal care to maintain their daily activities. Assisted living facility is generally for who need help with dressing, bathing, eating or using the bathroom etc… But it is not a full time nursing care. An assisted living resident will be cared by a well experienced staff to ensure their health, safety and well-being. The residence will assist the senior resident to arrange the appropriate medical, health, and dental care services for each resident.


Independent Living

Independent living, it does not mean that you should do everything for yourself. But it is little bit different from assisted living facility. It means living without the responsibilities that come with being a homeowner. You can employ your own assistants to help you with your everyday activities. By employing your own staff, you can control how the assistance they need is provided, allowing you to lead the lifestyle of your choice.

In-home Senior Care

In-home senior care is a service which seniors can get at their own home. More than 80% of seniors want to continue living at their home for as long as possible. In-home senior care services helps seniors to live their life with their family. You can hire a senior care professional or family caregiver to assist you or your loved ones. A home care professional will assist seniors to manage their daily activities like eating, dressing, bathing, toileting, transferring, continence, driving, preparing meals, doing housework, shopping, managing finance, managing medication, and using the telephone etc…

Memory Care

Memory care is a specially designed supportive community for seniors who living with the challenge of Alzheimer’s, dementia or other memory loss. Generally Memory care services and amenities are provided on site, with group activities, events and games which can help to improve or maintain senior’s memory power.
